Fiántas stands for wilderness, and with Fiántas I’ll let people experience Ireland’s wilderness in a safe and controlled way. After adventuring in mainland Europe, Scotland and Ireland for the last 14 years we decided to make the move to the north west of Ireland in 2024.

There is a different pace to life in the mountains.

As a professional hiking guide based in the northwest of Ireland, I help people experience some of the most spectacular mountain and coastal landscapes on these islands. From the wild peaks of Donegal and the iconic mountains of Sligo to the remote hills of Leitrim, the rugged terrain of Mayo, and the dramatic landscapes of Galway, my goal is simple: to help people connect with the outdoors in a meaningful and memorable way.

Every mountain has something to teach us. For some, it's the challenge of reaching a summit. For others, it's the confidence gained from navigating difficult terrain, learning new skills, or simply discovering places they never knew existed. Whether guiding experienced hikers or introducing newcomers to the hills, I believe that the best adventures combine learning, safety, and enjoyment.

When I'm not leading groups through the mountains, you'll often find me on the rock. As a passionate climber, I spend much of my free time exploring crags and sea cliffs throughout Ireland and beyond. Climbing has shaped my understanding of mountain environments and deepened my appreciation for the landscapes I guide in.

My work is built on professional standards and a commitment to high-quality outdoor education. As an accredited provider with Mountain Training Board and Mountaineering Ireland, I deliver mountain skills training courses designed to help people become more confident, capable, and self-reliant in the hills. Whether you're taking your first steps into mountain navigation or looking to develop advanced hillwalking skills, my courses provide practical, hands-on learning in real mountain environments.

The mountains of northwest Ireland are among Europe's hidden treasures. They offer solitude, beauty, challenge, and adventure in equal measure. Occasionally, my work also takes me across the water to Scotland, where the rugged Highlands provide another world of wild landscapes and unforgettable experiences.

Wherever the journey leads, my aim remains the same: to share a passion for mountains, develop skills, and help people create lasting memories in some of the most remarkable landscapes Ireland and Scotland have to offer.
